Technologies and Systems for Digital Cinema

The home of Cinema Technology is Germany.

Six leading and well-known enterprises and research institutes in Germany are working together in a consortium to develop trend-setting technics and workable business models for the implementation of Digital Cinema. The project entitled "Cinevision2006 - Technologies and Systems for Digital Cinema" are funded and promoted by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour BMWA.

The objective of this project is to realize a complete workflow and production chain for Digital Cinema. The centre of the developments form three key components which aren´t available at present in adequate performance: Digital camera, powerful data transfer and high-performance projection. Evaluation of suitable technologies as well as the development of prototypes are part of this work.

Economic studies and concepts for scenarios to implement Digital Cinema for movie theaters round off the technical developments for the cinema of the future.
